What is cast stone?
Cast stone is defined as “a refined architectural concrete
building material manufactured to simulate natural cut stone”. At
Landmark Cast Stone, we use a proprietary blend of Portland-based
cement aggregates and fibers resulting in a lightweight, heavy duty,
and customizable, product used for interior and exterior
architectural elements. Our cast stone products are produced by
casting the concrete in a reusable mold or form which is then cured
in a controlled environment, transported to the construction site,
lifted, and secured into place.
What interior cast stone products do
Our interior product line includes (but is not limited to):
kitchen hoods, fireplace mantels, hearths, fireplace surrounds,
corbels, columns, archways, flower and plant pots, crown and cornice
molding, and door surrounds.

Our exterior product line includes (but is not limited to):
columns, balustrades, outdoor fireplace mantels, outdoor fireplace
surrounds, pool coping, wall caps, step treads, pots and planters,
bowls, fountains, fire pits, window surrounds, keystones, corbels,
How does cast stone compare to limestone
or other stone materials used in fireplace mantels?
There are many advantages to going with cast stone over limestone or
alternative natural stone material. These benefits include:
Color Choices: With natural stone, you are limited to the colors
that are currently being quarried. With Landmark cast stone, you can
chose from a wide range of color and texture combinations due to the
different cements, aggregates, and color pigments that are used
throughout our manufacturing process. Weather and Fungus Resistance:
Our Cast Stone products have a high compressive strength and low
absorption rate which makes our product very resistant to the
various weathering effects. Cast Stone also resists the growth of
many mosses and lichens better than limestone. Cost effective: cast
stone is traditionally one-third of the cost that natural stone and
limestone cost due to the availability and extraction process
associated with stone products.
